Records, ca. 1975-1998.

Includes all extant papers relating to productions of the printing and publishing house over the years 1975-1997, with greater emphasis on the period 1982-1997. Comprises correspondence (extending into 1998), printing materials, and manuscripts, the latter consisting mostly of photocopied typescripts, many showing corrections by the authors or the editor, Gary Young, and including many more than were eventually produced by the Press. The correspondence consists of typed letters, holograph letters, notes, and postcards; incoming correspondence is almost all original; the editor's return correspondence since 1990 has been preserved on a SyQuest removable hard disk cartridge (file created in Word 5.1 for Mac). Materials relate to ca. 40 printing projects, especially MallarmeĢ's Throw of the dice, William Everson's Canticle for the waterbirds and his Ravished with joy, Philip Levine's Unselected poems, and D.J. Waldie's The Holy Land (published in the end by W.W. Norton), as well as Gary Young's own work, including illustration of The collected works of Goethe (Princeton University Press). Other materials include wood blocks used in the production of Greenhouse Press publications.
